Marseille - A quiet French gay city with breathtaking views

France

Marseille’s unique way of living is very inclusive. The city has all classes living under one roof, from the upper-class citizens to the lower-class, it is boasting with diversity. Its friendly gay scene is something that needs to be experienced. Marseille is a destination I would recommend if you are looking to escape the problems of daily life.

The culture of Marseille is widely influenced by Arab and African traditions because of the large number of North Africans that live in the area. Because of this, there are tons of cultural sites to experience and awe over.

There is one big factor that will keep me coming back to Marseille, and that is that this gay city is suitable for any time of the year. The beautiful landscapes are a sight to behold in the summer and the winter. Whether you want to check out the “Old Port” or the “Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde,” there is always something to see in Marseille. If you are there in the summer, you need to check out and relax in the gay beach “Mont Rose.”

Now, if you are the type of gay traveller that is looking for a raving party, Marseille might be a little quiet for you. The gay nightlife here is relaxed and chill compared to cities like Paris, London, or Berlin. Even though that is the case, it does have some gay bars and gay saunas for you to enjoy. One of the best areas for dinner and drinks is the Port area where you can enjoy an evening in one of the gay bars. This area is popular for the LGBTQIA+ community with tons of gay gays to meet.

This city is extremely safe. For most of my trip in Marseille, I was walking from one place to the other. It didn’t matter at what time of day, the people in this city are friendly. This way, you can relax and enjoy your vacation without any worries.

If you are planning on taking a gay trip around the world, make sure Marseille is on your list of stops. Whether you’re traveling alone, with friends, or as a couple, then you have to see the city at least once.

I hope you have a lovely gay trip!

Marseille is a popular city in France for tourists. The only downside I encountered was that there were no gay hotels that cater to only gay men. Though, this lovely gay city is filled with hotels that are labelled as “gay friendly.” You can even use the popular link below to find some great accommodation options:

This website will help you be integrated into the local, gay community. If you want a place to yourself or share a house with some local gay men, this is your best resource.

During my trip to Marseille, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel Marseille - Saint Charles. It is only a minute away from the central station which will give you the perfect accessibility of the city.

Even though there are no strictly gay hotels, the entire city is friendly to the LGBTQIA+ community.

In France, same-sex marriage is recognized so the community is well-protected by the government. This way, you can enjoy the city while remaining true to yourself.

The nightlife in Marseille is a bit quiet, but there are still a few gay bars that you can enjoy. The city has a lovely gay atmosphere, so, members of the community are welcome in any bar.

Below are some of the gay bars and saunas that can help you relax and have fun in this gay city.

1. Le Pulse

I would call this bar more gay-friendly than strictly a gay bar. It still is a lovely place to have a drink. So bring your friends or go by yourself and meet some of the local gay men.

2. L'Endroit

This lovely gay bar is in the “Old Port” area. It has a great vibe with a lovely staff that will get you whatever you need.

I hope you have a wonderful time in Marseille!

In this lovely gay city, the international airport is called Marseille Provence Airport or Aéroport de Marseille Provence. It is located 27km northwest of Marseille and has some great connection routes with many countries inside Europe and outside.

The city is very accessible by bus and by train. It will take you around 45 minutes to get to the city from the airport. There is the option to use a taxi, but you will be paying a hefty price in exchange for comfort.

Marseille’s train system is very sophisticated. It is connected to many cities in France if you ever wanted to go on an adventure and experience more areas.

Personally, I was in Marseille for a week. Be warned that there is a lot of walking if you want to explore a large portion of the city. I felt safe walking, even at night, so you have no need to worry.
